Ganesha Festival & Ethnic Day- 2015

Bal Gangadhar Tilak was one of the prominent leaders of the Great Rebellion also called the Sepoy Mutiny in 1857. The leader saw the need to unite more Indians and realized that nothing can bond people more than a common idol, equally worshipped by all. Although a Hindu festival, people of all religious inclinations joined in the celebration of this festival which was more of a social event than a religious festival. Following in the footsteps of Tilak, on 24.9.2015 our student council volunteers had organized Ganesha Pooja which turned out to be an event uniting all the students to work towards a common goal of making the event a grand success. The event was used as an instrument of social cohesion and promotes the feeling of oneness amongst the students who hail from different parts of the country as well as abroad. Ethnic Day was also celebrated on the same day where the students flaunted attired that are native to their ethnicity. Later the students went on a procession with the nasik band.  The programme was coordinated by the students’ council volunteers and faculty coordinators Mr. Manoj Kumar V.Hiremath, Assistant Professors, KLELC, Bengaluru. The day helps the students in getting better acquainted with cultures followed by other ethnicities and they learn to respect cultures and traditions that are different than their own.
