The 67 th Independence day was celebrated on 15 th August 2013 in the campus of K.L.E Society’s S. Nijalingappa College, Bangalore, with great spirit of patriotism. The celebration started with hoisting the National Flag and paying tribute to the great national leaders who fought for the freedom of our country. Dr.Suresh T Hegadi, Principal K.L.E Society’s Nijalingappa College hoisted the National Flag. Following the flag hoisting, the guest of the day Mr. Santosh Hegade, former Lokayukta, Government of Karnataka, spoke about the importance of the freedom which we have today and the need of preserving it. Freedom which we have today is only the freedom from the rule of a foreign country but we should liberate our country from hunger, poverty, exploitation etc. He reminded the students that they are the future of our country cannot sit idle. Further he insisted the youngsters coming in to powerful positions should restrain themselves from corrupt practices. Further, he observed that, it is the day that reminds us the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters. It instils us with a feeling of patriotism and infuses with the zest to do something for our country. He congratulated the students and staff of the college for organizing a wonderful Independence Day celebration and concluded his speech by quoting Mahatma Gandhi that a nation’s culture resides in the hearts and the soul of its people. Principal of the college gave a presidential address which reminding us the sacrifice of our freedom fighters. The students and staff of K.L.E Pharmacy College, K.L.E Law College, K.L.E. International School and K.L.E Dental College were part of the programme.
