Our college celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava in collaboration with NSS on 3.11.2015. In order not organize a function where in the importance of the state reorganization day would be told to the students, K.L.E Society’s Law College’s NSS unit organized a free eye check-up camp in association with Narayana Nethralaya. Dr. Pani Kumar and his team from Narayana Netralaya visited the college around 200 students and staff availed the benefit. The team also motivated the staff and students to donate their eyes and about 50 persons signed the letter for donating their eyes to the hospital. The programme was coordinated by the volunteers of NSS and faculty coordinator Dr. Jayashree R S, Assistant Professor, KLELC, Bangalore.
Eyes are the most valuable part of our body and therefore it should not be wasted by burning or burying them after death. In India, 4.6 million people are estimated with corneal blindness, which is curable only through corneal transplantation that is made possible via eye donation programBy organizing eye donation camps, the college has given the opportunity to the young minds to instill in them the values of selfless sacrifice and love towards the entire human race.
