The contributions of philanthropist Sirsangi Lingaraj, who was instrumental in setting up several educational institutions, were remembered at a function organized by K.L.E Society’s Law College, Bengaluru on 10.1.2015, Sunday at Sharada Sabhangana at 9.30 A.M. our teaching and non-teaching staff along with K.L.E.Society’s S. Nijalingappa College, Bengaluru.
Lingaraj Jayanti celebration was held to teach the students to walk in the footsteps of the great leader. The students needed to cultivate the habit of reading autobiographies of great personalities which would inspire them to walk on untrodden paths.Lingaraj, of Sirasangi village, contributed his property to many temples, matts and K.L.E Society. He had a vision of inculcating good habits among the youth, and he did it by providing education to many of them, he said. He was responsible to start many institutions in North Karnataka region, and was the founding father of our institution.
Being a part of the royal family, Shirasangi Lingaraj enjoyed all comforts in life. But he chose to dedicate his time and money for the betterment of community with a special focus on education. Despite opposition from a few quarters he helped educationists build educational institutions by donating all his property. Remembering the great man on his birthday inspired everyone to treat his life as a model for leading their own.
