K.L.E Society’s law college organised Elocution competition for the students on 11th April 2015, in remembrance of Justice V.R.Krishna Iyer who parted us on 4
th December 2014. He was a visionary and a path breaking judge who reformed the Indian criminal justice system and shaped the industrial jurisprudence. The topic of the competition was “
Contribution of Hon’ble Mr. Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer to the Indian legal system”. More than twenty students participated in the competition.
Mr. Rohit Kamath, student of V BA LLB, spoke about Justice Krishna Iyer being referred as conscience keeper of justice in India, who stood up for the poor and the under privileged and was jailed for this once, as an activist lawyer. The student won the heart of judges and the audience with his confidence and made the event memorable.
Dr.J.M.Mallikarjunaiah spoke about Justice V.R.Krishna Iyer who zealously guarded human-rights and brought in safeguards against custodial excesses and made bail conditions humane and directed the government to provide free legal-aid to detainees in prisons facing charges and concluded quoting V.R.Krishna Iyer.
