STUDENT COUNCIL

The KLE Society’s Law College has constituted the Student Representatives Committee, to engage the student community on proactive basis. From 2012-16, the class teachers were nominating student representatives for various activities held in the college. After 2016-17 academic year, recognizing the need to make the constitution of the Student Representatives more student oriented, the college completed its initiation in formulating Student Council by inviting applications from each class annually. Applications received from respective class teachers were submitted to the core committee, consisting of the Principal, the Academic coordinator and the faculty representatives. This core committee would further shortlist the candidates from the received applications and conduct interviews. The short listing of students for Student Council is based on the below mentioned eligibility criteria:

For the 1st year students, the academic performance during pre-university course or the previous degree along with their participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities

For the subsequent year students, attendance of previous semesters, academic performance and participation in curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

Further, the students shortlisted will be interviewed by the panel, and the final selection for the Student Council membership will be processed by the core committee members.

The Student Council plays an integral part in assorting various curricular, co-curricular and other extension activities of the college. The activity of the student council commences with the Inauguration of college activities and Fresher’s day celebration in the college, and further meticulously activates itself in hosting a series of events like seminars, conferences and workshops. Student Council exquisitely assisted the college in conducting the Louis M Brown International Client Consultation & Interviewing Competition, Ad-Infinitum etc. The role of Student council is appreciable in organising 1st Surana & Surana National Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition, in 2017 and 2nd Surana & Surana National Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition in 2018.

The Student Council is part of various Student Welfare programmes. Recognizing the role of student in the policy making of the college, student members are appointed in various statutory committees such as Anti-ragging Committee, Girl Student Grievance Cell etc. Student role in assisting the statutory committees to understand the issues faced by the student community indispensable. The statutory committees redresses the grievance faced by the student.

Other extension activities of the council include NSS, blood donation camps, awareness walks, activities relating to environment issues etc. In the extended activities of Student Council Kannada Rajyaotsva and Ganesh Utsav are celebrated.

The Student Council meets once in every semester to keep track of its activities and for future course of action, to coordinate with other committee members for conducting activities in the college. The visionary role of student members facilitates in building efficient and effective Student Council in particular and thus contributing to the glory of the institution in general.
